Doha Festival to honors Fairouz

The organizing committee of the Doha Festival has announced the return of live performances after a two year absence during this year’s festival events, which will begin on December 27 and end on the 31st.

 

Mohammad Al Mazrou’ie, head of the organizing committee, has revealed that the festival will feature new events and surprises this year. Mohammad added that prominent singers from the Arab world, the most noted being Lebanese diva Fairouz. The honorary ceremony for Fairouz will be attended by a large crowd from the media.

 

According to the internet website, MBC.net, it is said that one of the nights will be dedicated to Lebanese singers and is called ‘Lebanese Night’, and will also honor Lebanese legendary singer Wadi’ Al Safi. A number of prominent Lebanese singers are expected to sing.

 

The grand finale of the festival will feature prominent Saudi singer Mohammad Abdo. Prominent singers like Aseel Abu Bakr and Majed Al Muhandis will be holding performances during the festival.

 

The organizing committee is still holding negotiations with singers from around the Arab world to take part in the festival. Negotiations are being held with a number of prominent singers in addition to newcomers to the music world as a sign of support to them. The committee also intends on specifying some of the performances to Qatari artists, who were able to make a name for themselves in the music industry.
