CAF Champions League winners TP Mazembe of DR Congo defeated Tunisia's Etoile du Sahel 2-1 to win the Africa Super Cup title on Saturday.

Ghanaian forward Daniel Adjei Nii scored twice on 20 and 45 minutes to put Mazembe 2-0 up before Etoile striker Ihab Msakni scored the only goal for the visitors on the stroke of halftime.

The attempts of Etoile, who won the Confederation Cup last year, to equalsie in the second half went in vain as Mazembe held on for a convincing win.

Mazembe won the Champions League for the fifth time in their history after beating USM Algers 4-1 on aggregate last November.

They now equaled Zamalek's Africa Super Cup record of three titles, three behind record champions Ahly – who last won the title in 2014.

Mazembe represented Africa in the last edition of the Club World Cup in Japan but they lost their two games against Mexico's Club America and Japan's Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
