The La Liga match between FC Barcelona and Osasuna, originally scheduled for March 8, has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 27, as confirmed by La Liga, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The fixture was postponed following the sudden passing of Barcelona’s first-team doctor, Carles Minarro, just hours before kick-off at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
Barcelona to Face Osasuna on March 27 After Postponement
Other potential dates, including the week of May 19, were considered, but the final decision sees Barcelona playing the match after the international break and before their crucial home fixture against Girona on Sunday, March 30, at 16:15 CET.
Barcelona was initially reluctant to play the match immediately after the current international break due to the potential unavailability of two of their key players, Ronald Araujo and Raphinha, who will be traveling from South America and may not be ready to play.
The match will take place at Montjuïc, where Hansi Flick’s team will look to secure vital points in their league campaign.
Following their comeback win over Atletico Madrid on Sunday night, Barcelona enters the break as league leaders, level on points with second-placed Real Madrid but with a game in hand.
If they secure a victory over Osasuna, they will gain a three-point lead over Carlo Ancelotti’s men, giving the Catalans an advantage in the title race.
However, it should be remembered that Barcelona was defeated by Osasuna in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
