International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach says sport in general should not be placed under suspicion because of scandals affecting some sports federations.

Bach told Germany's Bild am Sonntag weekly there was a loss of trust affecting some federations but it would be wrong "to let loose" on all sport.

Football federation FIFA, the international athletics federation IAAF and the German football federation DFB have all been subject to investigations this year.

Bach, who will be 62 on Tuesday, ruled out any suspicions of corruption affecting the IOC and bids to host Olympic Games. He also said there were no grounds to doubt his election as IOC president in September 2013.
