Real Madrid will aim to secure a crucial victory in La Liga as they continue their domestic campaign with an away match against Getafe this Sunday evening. Los Blancos want to reclaim their spot at the top of the table ahead of an important week of fixtures.

Madrid enters the match in second place in the La Liga standings with 21 points from eight games. They trail leaders Barcelona, who have 22 points from nine matches. Meanwhile, Getafe sits in 11th place with 11 points.

Getafe Seeking to Break Winless Streak

Getafe has had a fairly stable season so far, with a record of three wins, two draws, and three losses. Manager José Bordalás's team aims to improve on last season’s 13th-place finish.

However, they have not won a league match since beating Real Oviedo on September 13, collecting only two points from their last four matches. Getafe enters this game following a 2-1 loss to Osasuna before the international break.

Real Madrid: Focus on the Present, Eye on the Future

Real Madrid comes into the game with high spirits after a strong 3-1 victory over Villarreal in their last match. Xabi Alonso’s side knows that a win is crucial to regain the top spot, especially since rivals Barcelona moved ahead with a 2-1 win against Girona on Saturday.

This match is even more important as it comes before a busy week of high-stakes games. Real Madrid will host Italian giants Juventus in the Champions League before traveling to face Barcelona in the much-anticipated El Clásico on October 26.

Team News and Predicted Lineups

Getafe will be without goalkeeper Jiri Letacek due to an injury. However, they will be strengthened by the return of young forward Adrian Liso, who is back from international duty with the Spain U-20 team at the World Cup. Liso, who has scored three goals in five appearances, is expected to go straight back into the starting lineup.

In contrast, Real Madrid is facing a significant injury crisis in defense, with Ferland Mendy, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dani Carvajal, Dean Huijsen, and Antonio Rüdiger all unavailable.

Getafe Predicted Lineup:

Soria; Djené, Abqar, Duarte; Femenía, Milla, Arambarri, Rico; Martín; Liso, Mayoral.

Real Madrid Predicted Lineup:

Courtois; Valverde, Militão, Asencio, Carreras; Güler, Tchouaméni, Bellingham; Mastantuono, Mbappé, Vinícius.
