Oman's Fatma al Nabhani advanced to the second round of the US$25,000 ITF Incheon Women's Challenger tournament in Incheon, South Korea on Wednesday.
The 25 year old Omani defeated Bunyawi Thamchaiwat of Thailand in straight sets, winning 6-3, 6-4 to set up a second round clash with eighth-seeded Freya Christie of Britain.
Fatma, whose rankings has dropped to 418, will hope to get past the higher-ranked rival, Freya, for a place in the quarterfinals.
The Briton is currently ranked 352. Earlier on Tuesday, Fatma and her partner Mari Osaka of Japan lost their opening round match to Thailand’s Kamonwan Buayam and Pei-Chi Lee of Chinese Taipei 4-6, 2-6.
