PepsiCo Jordan organizes traffic awareness training for distributors in cooperation with the Jordan Traffic Institute

PepsiCo Jordan, winner of the 2009 King Abdullah II Award for Excellence/private sector, has organized a series of training workshops targeting distribution vehicle drivers in collaboration with the Jordan Traffic Institute with the aim of increasing employees’ road safety awareness and contributing to safer driving, free of accidents. Traffic police officers and PepsiCo-Jordan’s Raed Hannan, Administration & Security Manager supervised the training workshops.
The training workshops comprised theoretical and practical sessions. Three sessions on theoretical road safety measures were held at PepsiCo’s Aquafina Hall, during which participants discussed general safety rules, external and internal vehicle inspection check list, vehicle balance and maximum load, and tire safety, concluding with a screening of a related video. In parallel, the trainees took part in two practical sessions, in which they were asked to practice what they learned, including proper parking rules, control over vehicle, reversing and vehicle inspection.
Sufian AL Salman, PepsiCo East Med and Africa HR Director, said the training sessions are part of the Company’s efforts to protect the safety of its employees and to contribute to national efforts aimed at curbing road accidents and safeguarding individuals on the roads. He said the workshops have been designed in a way as to increase drivers’ awareness and steer them towards stricter adherence to positive practices on the road. He thanked the Traffic Institute for their valuable contribution to what he described as “successful training sessions.”
In turn, Colonel Yassin Al-Mousili of the Traffic Institute praised PepsiCo’s efforts in providing employees with training opportunities on road safety, describing PepsiCo’s cooperation with the Institute as a model of public- private sector collaboration. He said the move will serve the Institute’s mission of spreading road safety awareness and encouraging drivers to commit to traffic laws and regulations as a way of life.
The workshops concluded with the distribution of guidebooks among the participants, who totaled 104, making up the first group of trainees as PepsiCo continues its series of workshops for other batches of employees.
PepsiCo maintains regular training courses for employees in various areas with the aim of building their capacities, and enriching their knowledge. In March this year, PepsiCo organized a workshop on Competition Law in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
