ALBAWABA - German public broadcaster (ZDF) is under massive condemnation after the Israeli army's report that one of its technicians, killed in Gaza, was a Hamas member.
AFP reported on Tuesday that a technician who works in a production company, with which ZDF had been working in Gaza, was a Hamas member and was killed in an airstrike on October 19.
Ottilie Klein, an MP for Chancellor Friedrich Merz's conservative CDU party, urged via an interview with Bild daily "a thorough and complete explanation of how this could have happened and whether there are any other similar cases".
"Above all, it must be investigated whether Hamas and its supporters had any influence on the nature and content of ZDF's reporting," Klein said, adding that in response to the incident, the German broadcaster has halted its cooperation with the company until further notice.
ZDF revealed on Monday that the Israeli army sent a document stating that an employee of production company PMP, with which it used to work, was a member of the Palestinian group.
The 37-year-old technician was killed in an Israeli attack on Deir Al-Balah on Oct. 19, along with the son of another PMP employee, according to the ZDF statement.
