ALBAWABA - Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, has announced the death of one commander Ahmed Al-Ghandour, along with other 3 military leaders during the Al-Aqsa Flood operation.
Ahmed Al-Ghandour and three other senior leaders of Hamas were killed during Israel's attacks against the Palestinian resistance movement, which started on Oct. 7.
Al-Qassam commander Al-Ghandour was killed along with Ayman Siyyam, Wael Rajab and Raafat Salman.
In a statement published on Telegram, the Al-Qassam Brigades posted: "Ahmed Al-Ghandour, whose nickname is Abu Anas, a member of the Military Council and commander of the Northern Brigade," was killed during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
According to Palestinian media, Al-Ghandour is the second most senior commander whose death was announced during the current war, after Ayman Nofal, commander of the Central Brigade, who was killed in Israeli attacks last October.
What do we know about Ahmed Al-Ghandour?
First, according to Palestinian media, Ahmed Al-Ghandour, whose nickname is Abu Anas, is the commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades in the northern Gaza Strip.
The Israeli government accused him of being responsible for planning the capture of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. Al-Ghandour had survived two assassination attempts; 2002 and 2012.
Ahmed Al-Ghandour was arrested for 6 years by the occupation, and according to Alaraby TV, he was held for 5 years by the Palestinian authorities.
Al-Qassam commander was also placed on the terror list by the United States in 2017.
