ALBAWABA - Western media outlets have been under fire over the "disgraceful" coverage of over coverage of the story of Palestinian child Hind Rajab, who disappeared for days along with two Red Crescent workers.
The story of Palestinian girl Hind Rajab
Hind Rajab called Red Crescent and pleaded for help after the car of her family was targeted by Israeli forces in Gaza City. Two workers at Red Crescent left to rescue the little girl on Jan. 29, but they all went missing.
After contact loss for 12 days, the bodies of little child Hind, 6, and the two workers were found after they were killed by Israeli forces.
Baha Hamada, the Hind's grandfather, confirmed that the body of the Palestinian girl was found in the Tal al-Hawa area. Moreover, the Palestinian Red Crescent announced that the two paramedics, Yousef Zeino and Ahmed Al-Madhoun, who went to rescue Hind and her family were killed as well.
Hind's last words were: "I'm so scared, please come," as she was inside her family’s car which came under fire by Israeli forces in Gaza City leading to the death of all her other five relatives.
Western media outlets rebuked over coverage of Hind's story
Western media outlets were rebuked by pro-Palestinian activists over their "disgraceful" coverage of Hind and the story of her rescuers.
Huge media outlets including The Guardian, CNN, and Sky News, posted the story of Hind and wrote that the little Palestinian girl was "found dead" instead of saying she was "killed" by Israeli forces.
BBC published: "Hind Rajab, 6, found dead in Gaza days after phone calls for help," meanwhile, when covering the story of a Ukrainian child killed by a Russian shelling, the British news outlet wrote: "Ukraine war: Baby killed in Russian strike on Kharkiv hotel."
The Independent coverage of Hind Story
Amid all the controversy in covering the story of Hind, who was killed inside a car along with her family member, the British online newspaper "The Independent" was the only Western outlet that managed to write "killed" instead of "found dead" in the title.
The Independent shared the story with the headline: "A 6-year-old Palestinian girl was killed — as were the paramedics trying to rescue her — by Israeli tanks".
