ALBAWABA - Unconfirmed reports claimed that the leader of Hay’et Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group, commonly known as Abu Mohammad al-Julani, was killed in an airstrike.
According to some media sources, Syrian opposition leader Ahmed Hussein al-Shar’a, also referred to as Abu Mohammad al-Julani could have died in a Russian airstrike amid an intense offensive in Aleppo.
Pictures and footage allegedly showing Abu Mohammad al-Julani following his killing after an airstrike by the Russian air forces circulated on social media.
In addition, an alleged statement, reportedly released by the opposition group, was posted on the X platform allegedly confirming the assassination of the leader of the Hay’et Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group.
This comes amid news confirming that opposition fighters have fully taken control over Aleppo city in Syria including Aleppo International Airport which fell at the hands of the fighters on Saturday.
The opposition group announced in a statement an operation called "Deterrence of Aggression" against the Syrian regime. First, fighters began entering several towns and cities in the surrounding areas of Aleppo. Then they were seen inside Aleppo with the latest they had taken control of the international airport.
