ALBAWABA - Head of the Catholic Church and the sovereign of Vatican City, Pope Leo XIV has gone viral on social media after a video captured him doing the famous "67" meme during a wholesome interaction with children.
The viral clip sparked debate on social media, with users either praising the pope for engaging with the youth or criticizing him for participating in a "meaningless Gen Alpha trend," further claiming that "67" is a "Satanic Santeria ritual."
Viral video: Pope Leo XIV does the '67' meme
A social media user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "This just proves Gen Z/Alpha brain rot has no respect for any institution, not even the Vatican. The look of pure confusion on his face as he mumbled "six-seven" is hilarious, but also a sad reminder that kids today think shouting random numbers counts as a personality."
Another added, "The Pope really did a Satanic Santeria ritual and no one cares."
One more outlined, "first in my bloodline to watch a pope do 67 meme."
The viral meme originated with rapper Skrilla's 2024 drill track "Doot Doot." The term was used in the song's lyrics and later blew up after being featured in NBA video edits featuring basketball star LaMelo Ball, who is 6 feet, 7 inches tall.
Since then, the meme has become a massive part of Gen Alpha meme culture, similar to millennials with the "21" meme.
