According to AFP, Thai authorities revealed that the massive rain and a leaky pipe likely caused the hole. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul told local reporters that, fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.

Additionally, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt revealed that the government is currently working on sealing the leak, as reported by The National Thailand. He added that while the situation is stable, Samsen Road, where the incident occurred, will remain closed till further notice.
