Co-hosts Mexico have officially booked their ticket to the Round of 32 after a 1-0 victory over South Korea today. The match took place at the Estadio Akron in Mexico, as part of the second round of Group A fixtures at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Mexican squad played with incredible spirit. Playing in front of a packed stadium, they refused to give their home fans anything less than a win. These crucial three points put them at the top of the group and guarantee their direct spot in the knockout stages.

Match Highlights and Goals

The first half ended in a goalless draw, with neither side able to break the deadlock. However, Mexico came out in the second half with their eyes set on the win. They quickly found the back of the net, scoring the only goal of the match through Luis Romo in the 50th minute.

South Korea pushed hard and in the dying minutes of the game. They had a golden opportunity to equalize in the 86th minute, but the Mexican goalkeeper made a save to deny them and secure his team's well-deserved win.
