ALBAWABA - In a funny move, social media users mocked US President Donald Trump for imposing tariffs on "penguins".
A group of uninhabited volcanic islands near Antarctica which are also filled with ice penguins, have been also a target to Donald Trump's tariffs.
The US president imposed a 10 percent tariff on goods to Heard Island and McDonald Islands.
It is worth noting that Heard Island and McDonald Islands can be visited only using a two-week boat voyage from Perth on Australia’s west coast.
The Guardian reported that the islands are completely free from humans and only animals, such as penguins, live there. Heard Island and McDonald Islands were last visited by people before about a decade ago.
According to export data from the World Bank, the US imported $1.4 million of products from Heard Island and McDonald Islands in 2022.
