ALBAWABA - Syrian women's rights activist Hiba Haj Arif was found dead inside her house on Tuesday, sparking wide controversy about women's rights in Syria.
Hiba Haj Arif is known for supporting women's rights in Syria and was previously threatened to be killed due to her activist work. Arif is one of the important members of the Syrian Women's Network.
Syrian Women's Network is a democratic, nongovernmental and independent personalities and organizations working on gender equality, stabilization of democracy, human rights, civil peace, and achieving transitional justice.

Syrian Women's Network posted a statement: "SWN mourns the death of Hiba Haj Arif, who was found dead inside her house in B'zaah town in Syria." It added that the Syrian activist was subjected to death threats to leave the organization.
Syrian Women's Network further stressed that it condemns the killing of the Syrian activists and expressed solidarity with her family.
This comes days before the viral video in which men were spotted brutally attacking a woman and her sister in Syria's Al-Riqqa Governate under the excuse of "honor".
The video has caused massive fuss online after photos of one of the sisters were shared online showing her head covered with blood after she was heard screaming in the footage.
