ALBAWABA - A shocking crime took place in Jordan when a man stabbed a woman, leading to her death, Jordan's Public Security Directorate said and confirmed the arrest of the suspect and the tool used in the crime.

In a statement released on July 29, the police said that a report was received by the central Amman police operations room about the discovery of a young woman's body lying on the ground in one of the capital's districts.

Security forces immediately rushed to the scene to investigate the circumstances of the incident. The girl was identified as Noor Mohamed Barghal.

Upon arriving at the scene, security teams discovered that the girl had been stabbed. Her body was transferred to the forensic center at Al-Bashir Hospital for further procedures and examinations to determine the cause of death.

The directorate explained that security forces were able to identify and arrest the suspect, and also seized the weapon used in the crime. It noted that the investigation is ongoing in preparation for referring the case to the judiciary for legal proceedings.

The Jordan University of Science and Technology mourned the passing of student Noor Mohammad Amer Barghal, from the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering in the Faculty of Science and Arts, asking God to have mercy on her and inspire her family with patience and solace.

The perpetrator could get a sentence between 20 and 25 years in jail if the meeting between him and the woman was by chance, and a dispute occurred that led to the crime. However, if he planned his crime, then he will face the death penalty.

The Nawabneh clans stressed in a statement on Thursday their adherence to their legitimate, legal and tribal right, affirming that they will not give up on the blood of their daughter, and demanding that the perpetrator of the crime be given the harshest punishments and just retribution.
