ALBAWABA - Saudi Arabia's rapid development and improvement in all fields has been grabbing much attention, with the latest being the first-ever swimwear fashion show hosted on Friday.
The swimwear fashion show was described as "historic" and featured the work of Moroccan designer Yasmina Qanzal. The pieces included mostly one-piece swimsuits in multiple colors and shades of red, beige and blue.
The swimwear fashion show happened on the second day of the inaugural Red Sea Fashion Week at the St Regis Red Sea Resort.
The St Regis Red Sea Resort is part of Red Sea Global, which is part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 directed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
In a statement to AFP, the Moroccan designer said: "It's true that this country is very conservative but we tried to show elegant swimsuits which represent the Arab world."
Qanzal reaffirmed: "When we came here, we understood that a swimsuit fashion show in Saudi Arabia is a historic moment, because it is the first time to have such an event."

The first swimwear fashion show has gained wide reactions on social media platforms with many enhancing the way Saudi Arabia is heading towards a better place and the most developed in the Middle East not only in terms of economic reforms but also in fashion, music, art and all fields.
However, some people online criticized the fashion show amid the war in Gaza which has been going on since Oct. 7 by Israel leaving at least 35,386 Palestinians killed and over 79,366 others injured.
