ALBAWABA - Palestinian journalist Saleh Aljafarawi is accused of being an undercover agent of Israel after many posts emerged online claiming his real name is "Shalev Yariv".
Many X accounts posted allegations about the prominent Palestinian journalist Saleh Aljafarawi, who has been reporting Israeli-aggressive on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7.
Amid rumors being spread online was that the Palestinian journalist Saleh Aljafarawi is working as an undercover agent for Israel and claiming that he is not using his real "Israeli" identity.
Many allegedly said that Saleh Aljafarawi is a fake name and that the man's real name is "Shalev Yariv" adding that the journalist is now "safe in Israel" and that's why they now are posting the alleged news. However, all the accounts that are posting the allegations are pro-Israel.
Palestinian journalist Saleh Aljafarawi responds to allegations
The Gazan journalist posted a video on his official accounts denying rumors and allegations being spread about him claiming he is an "agent for Israel."
In the clip, he said: "Good afternoon to all followers, I'm Palestinian journalist Saleh Aljafarawi reporting from the heart of Gaza. Since the Israeli aggression on Gaza, in over 6 months, The Israeli occupation began to launch a campaign to discredit him in various ways."
He maintained that Israel once warned to assassinate him, and in another campaign, they claimed that he fleed to Qatar and got married after collecting money.
Furthermore, he maintained that Israel is launching its biggest defamation campaign against him by accusing him of being an agent to Tel Aviv. However, he said that he was not mad cause he was able to turn the attention of the Israeli media towards him.
The Palestinian journalist, who has been highlighting and uncovering the Israeli crimes in Gaza since last October, described the campaign as an "accolade" for his successful job as a journalist who spreads the truth about occupation.
Pro-Palestinian activists defend Saleh Aljafarawi
Pro-Palestinian activists have in return released a campaign to halt rumors being spread about Palestinian journalist Saleh Aljafarawi. Thousand of support messages to the famous journalist emerged with many asking him to stay firm in reporting the truth about Israeli attacks in Gaza.
A person wrote: "Saleh Aljafarawi is no less dangerous to the Zionists than Sinwar. They recently rumored that he was a Zionist agent and returned to the Zionist entity safely. You made them tired, big man. May God perpetuate your smile and victory, and keep your feet firm on the truth."
Meanwhile, another commented: "Saleh Al-Jaafrawi from the heart of Gaza with the resistance. He says to all the accounts of the Zionists 'Here is Gaza. Here is the resistance'."
Since the Al-Aqsa Flood operation and the Israeli aggression on Gaza on Oct. 7, at least 32,916 Palestinians have been killed and 75,494 others were injured, according to the health ministry of the strip.
