Pyramid-climbing dog becomes icon: tourist offers $2,000 to buy dog, another offers $512 selfie

ALBAWABA - Everyone remembers the Egyptian Pyramid-climbing dog which was spotted on top of one of the Pyramids in Giza. 

The story began when American Internet personality and athlete Marshall Mosher was enjoying his trip to Egypt when he saw the dog on the Pyramid of Khafre. He caught a video of the dog on the top of the pyramid and posted it online and was shocked to see the video virally hitting the internet.

The video was reshared by dozens of thousands and accounts and the dog became a source of interaction for travellers wishing to visit Egypt. Furthermore, the Egyptian stray dog has become a tool to attract foreign tourists.

Egyptian dog receives flirting offers

Another video of the dog coming down from the Pyramid of Khafre was shared on social media. After that, the dog became an icon for Egyptians and a source of interest for multiple Americans who offered to take a selfie with the animal for LE 25,000 ($512).

An American tourist offered to buy the famous dog for LE 100,000 (over $2,000).

On the other hand, Egyptian media reported that American travel and tourism company "King Tut Tours" started to organize special trips to Cairo that included a private lunch with the Pyramid-climbing dog.

The company released its new tourism program in the US and Canada to visit Egypt in a five-day program that includes a trip to the Giza Pyramids, a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum, as well as a lunch with the presence of the Egyptian dog.
