ALBAWABA - A video circulated online showing Russian President Vladimir Putin refusing to shake hands with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In the clip, President Putin accompanied by Israeli ex-President Reuven Rivlin was attending the fifth World Holocaust Forum in Jerusalem, as the Russian leader was entering the room he greeted French President Emmanuel Macron.

Meanwhile, before Macron, Putin passed near Netanyahu and completely ignored him, despite that he sat next to him after that.

Social media users have recently widely re-shared the video, which was taken in 2020 during a summit called "Remembering the Holocaust: Fighting Antisemitism".

Many related the video of Putin refusing to shake hands with the Israeli premier to the ongoing war on Gaza, which started on Oct. 7 leaving over 27,000 Palestinians killed. A person wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "President Putin humiliated butcher of Gaza, Netanyahu."

Another posted: "Throwback 2020: Putin refuses to acknowledge Netanyahu during the world Holocaust Forum in Jerusalem."

Meanwhile, another clarified that the video was taken four years ago and has nothing to do with the ongoing Israeli aggressive airstrikes and attacks on the Gaza Strip.

The video of Putin and Netanyahu was posted by AFP on Jan 23, 2020, showing Vladimir Putin's participation in the fifth World Holocaust Forum which was organized to mark 75 years since the "liberation of Auschwitz, the World War II death camp where the Nazis killed more than 1.1 million people, most of them Jews."
