ALBAWABA - Meral Akşener, a Turkish politician, called Syrians in Turkey to pack their bags and go to the Gaza Strip to fight against Israel.

Akşener, a teacher, historian and academic and the founder and current leader of the Good Party, has triggered massive criticism online after her latest comments on Syrian refugees living in Turkey.

In a speech during a session, Meral Akşener said that Syrians in Turkey must go to Gaza to fight against Israel amid intense fighting between Hamas fighters and Israeli forces which led to the death of over 1,000 people, and the injury of over 5,000 in Gaza.

She said: "The Syrian refugees in Turkey, who fled the war in their country, at least they should now go to Gaza and shoot the Israelis."

The Turkish politician added: "I will personally pay for their first pickups from my pension."

Akşener, 67, faced heavy backlashes online as people described her of being "racist" against Syrians who fled war into Turkey.

A person commented: "So, why don't you pay Israelis in Turkey to return to their first home country."

Another X user added: "Even my aunts who pick beans on the stairs in the neighborhood and engage in politics won't say this. What a pity."
