ALBAWABA - Yohai Avni was an Israeli prison guard whose corpse was found two weeks earlier in a settlement close to occupied Jerusalem. His death dealt a serious blow to the Israeli army and signaled the end of the occupation. The identity of the young Palestinian who carried out the assassination is still unknown.

Hebrew media said that Ibrahim Mansour, a resident of Biddu, an occupied village in Jerusalem, broke into the Israeli officer's residence in the Givon HaHadasha community.

Social media users have been praising the death of an Israeli jail guard by a teenage Palestinian, calling it a major security setback for the Israeli occupation.

The incident happened after Israeli officials re-arrested Ibrahim Mansour, a 23-year-old Palestinian from the village of Biddu, close to Jerusalem. Mansour was detained again after being freed in April on suspicion of murdering Israeli jail guard Yohai Avni.

Mansour reportedly gained entry into the heavily guarded Givon HaHadasha colony, which is equipped with cameras, alarm systems, and guards. When he arrived to Avni's flat, he repeatedly stabbed the policeman before lighting the house on fire. Mansour made an unsuccessful effort to access other residences.

The Israeli publication Yedioth Ahronoth pointed out that Israeli investigations have not yet established the motivations for the crime, despite the fact that several media sources and activists have highlighted Mansour's act of murdering his jailor.
