ALBAWABA - A new TikTok trend of pregnant women taking Tylenol has sparked controversy, following the Trump administration's claims linking the painkiller drug to autism during a press conference on Monday.

US Secretary of Health and Human Services, RFK Jr., warned American women against taking Tylenol (medically known as Paracetamol or acetaminophen) while pregnant, claiming that their child might develop autism or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

On September 22, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) initiated the process of adding a safety label to the drug and notified physicians about the possible link.

Despite the warnings from the Trump Administration, many women took to TikTok with videos of themselves taking the drug. A pregnant woman shared a video captioned, "me popping Tylenol while pregnant cause WTF is the government gonna do about it."

Another shared a similar video with a caption that read, " I have a list of things I would be worried about if I were pregnant now in the US, but taking Tylenol for my fever wouldn't be one of them."

A doctor named Michelle Vu also posted a TikTok video of herself talking about Tylenol while pregnant and said, "It's gonna work like a charm and my baby won't have autism."

In response, Dr. Nicole Saphier wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), "Pregnant women popping Tylenol like Tic Tacs just to stick it to Trump—please stop."

She added, "Don’t weaponize your pregnancy for a political point. Consider acetaminophen only when absolutely necessary, for the shortest duration and lowest dose, even the makers of Tylenol say this."
