ALBAWABA - Over a year after the death of Mahsa Amini, 22, who was killed after being beaten by Iran's morality police, the same scenario happened to Armita Geravand.

On Sunday, Iranian teenager Armita Geravand, 16, was beaten up by the police using a pole on her head over her hijab in Tehran.

Geravand currently lays in hospital as she was reported in a coma as posted by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, a Kurdish rights group.

A photo was shared showing the Iranian girl in the Fajr hospital’s intensive care unit, still in a coma. The human rights organization said that security forces surrounded the hospital as they feared fresh protests similar to what happened when Mahsa Amini, an Iranian icon, died in September 2022.

Armita Geravand was beaten up by hijab enforcers in Tehran's Metro station as a video was shared showing the teenager being attacked using a pole.

Mahsa Amini's death:

On Sept. 13, 2022, Iranian woman Mahsa Amini, 22, was beaten up by Iran's morality police for wearing hijab "improperly," she entered a coma and died three days after the attack in Tehran.

Massive protests erupted inside and outside Tehran as people protested the compulsory hijab rule in Iran. Thousands were arrested by authorities.

Moreover, protests were also organized in different countries across the world as female protesters burnt hijabs and cut their hair to show support for Iranian women.
