ALBAWABA - Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, reportedly owns lavish houses in the United Kingdom that are worth over £100 million ($137.6 million), the Daily Mail reported.
According to the British newspaper, Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, likely has 11 luxury mansions on The Bishops Avenue. It is worth noting that "The Bishops Avenue" is an exclusive street in Hampstead, north London, also referred to as 'Billionaires' Row'.
Despite sanctions on the Islamic Regime and Tehran, Mojtaba purchases the luxury mansions via a network of shell companies, one of which is registered in the tax haven of the Isle of Man, the Daily Mail added.
The British website mentioned that the owner of the properties is banker Ali Ansari, an Iranian oligarch and a financer of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC); however, he is well known to have strong ties to the Khamenei family.
Ansari was sanctioned by the Treasury in October.
After citing sources and seeing documents, Bloomberg reported that the London properties are linked directly to Ali Khamenei's son, who is believed to own a global property empire by the help of Iranian oligarch Ali Ansari.
In addition, Land Registry Records detailed The Bishops Avenue premises were all bought together in 2013 for £73 million (more than $100 million), and they are now worth £100 million ($137.4 million).
