ALBAWABA - On Jul. 22, 2024, a young Iranian mother was shot by local police for allegedly violating the county's Hijab policy leaving her paralyzed from serious injuries, according to the BBC.

The young woman in question is 31-year-old Arezoo Badri who was driving home with her sister when the incident occurred. She suffered from serious spinal cord and lung injuries which made her lose the ability to walk.

Iranian police started shooting at the vehicle after the driver refused to stop the car as CCTV footage showed the women allegedly not covering their heads at all which triggered the incident.

Another news source claimed that she wasn't shot over her hijab but due to the car they were driving in being "fully tinted and ignoring an anti-theft halt."

A user debunked BBC's news coverage and said it was "literally not true," as they linked a source from Shargh Daily.

This triggered a swarm of comments debating the matter in question, here's what some had to say:

"I hate the BBC. Terrorist media."

"You are the people who still defend the Islamic terrorist regime!"

Iranian journalist, Masih Alinejad who resides in the US said that this is the "Islamic Republic’s war against women" claiming that Areezo's family is being threatened not to speak out about the incident in question.

She added, that attacking women in Iran has become the "Norm."
