ALBAWABA - A video posted by American billionaire Elon Musk on Thursday on the X platform showed the moment when a part of a SpaceX rocket hit the moon.
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket booster crashed into the moon very early Wednesday. This is considered a rare incident where a human-made object collides with the moon, CBC reported Thursday, citing scientists.
Yesterday, the European Southern Observatory confirmed the collision via a statement on LinkedIn, saying, "Earlier today, the discarded upper stage of a Falcon 9 rocket impacted on the moon."
The observatory added, "As part of this coordinated observing campaign, our VLT [Very Large Telescope] detected spectral lines (the ‘chemical fingerprints’) of sodium and lithium gas in the impact plume lasting for 5-10 minutes after impact. The temporal sequence of spectra is shown in the clip here."
"The sodium likely originated from the lunar soil, whereas the lithium could come from the rocket itself," the statement continued.

However, no video footage of the SpaceX rocket impact exists is AI-generated just to show a simulation of what happened, but it was not visually observed.
The crash is confirmed by tracking data centers, but it has not yet been imaged.
Additionally, the SpaceX CEO said in a comment under the footage, "This is fake btw 😂", confirming that the clip is generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
Moreover, Valuetainment, the original poster of the clip, reported the crash of the rocket by the moon, but highlighted, "This video is AI-generated to provide visual context."
It said, "A discarded SpaceX Falcon 9 upper stage impacted the Moon at roughly 7 times the speed of sound, releasing energy comparable to about 3 tons of TNT."
"The impact created an estimated 30 meter crater that is too small to be seen from Earth with the naked eye."
