TV personality and psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw has joined the chorus of voices criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris for her lack of action on the border crisis.
Dr. Phil, who is known for his popular talk show and his new network Dr. Phil Primetime, visited the southern border in Texas to witness the situation firsthand. He said he was shocked by what he saw and called it a “humanitarian crisis unlike anything we’ve seen before.”
He blasted Harris, who was appointed by President Joe Biden as the immigration czar, for only visiting the border once since taking office. He said she was failing to address the root causes of the problem and the impact it had on the American people.
“More than 6 million illegal immigrants have crossed Texas Southern border in just three years. That’s more than the population of 33 different states in this country,” he said at the border.
“And what about our vice president, Kamala Harris? Did you know she’s our country’s immigration czar? Guess how many times she’s been to the border? Once.”
He added that Harris was “out of touch” with the reality of the situation and accused her of playing politics instead of solving the issue.
“She’s not here. She’s not talking to the people. She’s not seeing the suffering. She’s not seeing the danger. She’s not seeing the cost. She’s not seeing the impact on our economy, our health care, our education, our security,” he said.
Dr. Phil also spoke to a border patrol agent, who told him that the crisis was costing American lives and putting the agents at risk. The agent said that the border was “overrun” by drug cartels, human traffickers, and criminals who exploited the loopholes in the immigration system.
Dr. Phil said he was not taking sides on the political debate, but he wanted to raise awareness and compassion for the people involved. He said he hoped that his show and his network would help spark a constructive dialogue and a positive change.
“I’m not here to point fingers. I’m not here to blame. I’m here to see for myself. I’m here to listen. I’m here to learn. I’m here to help,” he said.
