ALBAWABA - The Israeli army announced finding the bodies of six hostages in Rafah, Gaza including one that belongs to Hersh Goldberg-Polin, an American-Israeli man.
US President Joe Biden decried the death of Hersh Goldberg-Polin. He said in a statement: "I am devastated and outraged. Hersh was among the innocents brutally attacked while attending a music festival for peace in Israel on October 7."
The Israeli army confirmed on Sunday morning the retrieval of the bodies of six hostages; Goldberg-Polin, Eden Yerushalmi, Carmel Gat, Almog Sarusi, Alexander Lobanov, and Ori Danino, who were taken on October 7.
Israel accused Hamas fighters of executing the six hostages shortly before the Israeli military reached them in the Rafah tunnel as the war entered its 331 days.
CNN is under fire over a headline on Israeli-American hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin
American news website CNN was heavily blasted over a headline regarding the retrieval of the body of American-Israeli hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin.
CNN posted the news on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote a caption: "Israeli-American hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin has died, his family says in a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
Many Israelis and Americans slammed the headline by CNN for writing "has died". A person commented: "Using the word 'died' here is misinformation."
Another X user said: "So, is @CNN now Hamas' official news channel? Apparently, the hostage wasn’t "killed" —just “died”? Seriously?."
Likely after the backlash, CNN changed the headline to "Israel's military says six hostages ‘brutally murdered’ in Gaza, including Israeli American Goldberg-Polin."
