ALBAWABA - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is undergoing a hernia surgery under full anaesthesia, according to his office. It added that Israel’s deputy prime minister and justice minister, Yariv Levin, will be partially replacing his place.

Many took to social media to claim that Benjamin Netanyahu's surgery could be very dangerous citing that the prime minister's age is 74 and allegedly saying that full anaesthesia may affect him badly.

A person posted online: "Netanyahu is undergoing surgery today and his health condition is deteriorating. Pray for him."

Another commented on X (formerly Twitter): "Pray for some medical malpractice amen."

Meanwhile, many suspected the story of hernia surgery and allegedly claimed that it could be a "fake narrative" by the Israeli government to cover another "urgent" surgery.

A social media user said: "No one believes Netanyahu's "hernia" was found in "a routine examination" on Saturday night. No one believes he has a hernia. In 2013, said he underwent surgery for an "emergency hernia." A man in the agony of a hernia emergency wouldn't hold a presser. He'd be crippled by pain."

Can Netanyahu's deputy order a Gaza ceasefire while PM is under surgery?

On the other hand, others took to social media to call on Netanyahu's deputy to stop the war in the Gaza Strip which has been going on since last October leaving at least 32,782 Palestinians killed.

However, according to many online, it could be not possible for the Israeli deputy prime minister to approve a ceasefire deal in Gaza during Netanyahu's surgery.

Netanyahu commented on his surgery that he is optimistic for a speedy recovery by saying: "I assure you that I will get through this treatment successfully and return to action very quickly."
