ALBAWABA - American fast-food chain Shake Shack recently made headlines across news and social media outlets amid opening its first branch in Israel angering pro-Palestine activists following calls to boycott the chain.
According to the Middle East Eye, the announcement of the opening came on the same day the Health Ministry of Gaza announced that 18 Palestinians died from malnutrition and dehydration because of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza.
Calls to boycott Shake Shack surface amid first Israel branch
The branch opened on Mar. 5, 2024, and has seen quite several Israelis lining up to get their burgers as Palestinians are starving in Gaza and barely getting any humanitarian aid from neighboring countries which added to the outrage.
Middle East Eye reported that since Oct. 7, Israel has cut off all fuel, food, electricity, water, and aid supplies to Gaza, leaving around 2.2 million people at varying levels of hunger and dehydration.
By the time of writing this article, the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza resulted in the killing of at least 30,717 Palestinians of whom are children and elders. In addition, more than 72,156 were injured, as reported by the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
