ALBAWABA- In an unexpected disclosure, British authorities have revealed the identity of the suspect behind the tragic children's massacre in Southport, northern England. The alleged perpetrator, Axel Rudakobana, a 17-year-old of Rwandan Christian descent, has been charged with three counts of murder and ten counts of attempted murder.
The disclosure, made by Judge Andrew Menary KC during a hearing at Liverpool Crown Court, aims to counter widespread misinformation that falsely attributed the attack to a Muslim or illegal immigrant.
Judge Menary lifted the usual anonymity protections for underage suspects, stating that the decision was necessary to prevent further public unrest and misinformation.
Rudakobana, described as a reclusive member of a musical theater group, is accused of fatally stabbing Alice da Silva Aguiar (9), Bebe King (6), and Elsie Dutt Stankombe (7) during a dance rehearsal.
The attack left eight other children injured, five of them critically, along with two seriously injured adults.
The incident has stirred significant public emotion and controversy, exacerbated by initial false claims that sparked riots and attacks on mosques and migrant homes.
Rudakobana, who is set to turn 18 next week, was born in Cardiff and had recently relocated to Banks.
This case has drawn widespread attention, highlighting issues of misinformation and the social repercussions of prematurely spreading unverified details.
