ALBAWABA - A day after the collapse of the Syrian regime and the escape of former President Bashar Assad to Russia, activists called on Apple and Android to change the emoji of the Syrian flag.
At present, when people search Syrian flag on their chats, they see the Syrian regime flag in red, white and black colors along with two green stars in the middle. However, activists call for the replacement of the flag to the Syrian opposition flag.
Syrians are now calling mobile companies to change the Syrian flag emoji to the Syrian opposition flag which consists of green, white and black colors along with three red stars in the middle.
Furthermore, others also asked Elon Musk, Telsa CEO and X owner, to also change the Syrian flag on the X platform. A Syrian activist posted mentioning Elon Musk: "The other flag 🇸🇾 is no longer valid nor is the flag of any country. Please update @X emojis."
Another said: "Hey @Apple, I think we need to work on changing the Syrian Flag Emoji from this 🇸🇾 to this 👇🏼Let me know what are the requirements needed for this to happen, I can help."
On Dec. 8, On Dec. 8, the Syrian opposition headed by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham and its leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, commonly known as Abu Mohammad al-Julani, announced the collapse of the Syrian regime as rebels were seen in the capital Damascus.
Battles between the Syrian opposition rebels and pro-Bashar Assad regime forces started on Nov. 27, when the Syrian opposition announced the "Deterrence of Aggression" operation and they were able to oust the Syrian regime in a few days.
