ALBAWABA - After a video claiming that an alcohol distillery was functioning within a mosque went viral, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs denied the charges.

Social media users circulated the video extensively, allegedly depicting a "alcohol factory in a mosque in the Al-Qusur area, supposedly used by the imam and the muezzin."

The ministry clarified in a message posted on its "X" account in response, saying, "A rumor is spreading... According to a social media video, there is an alcohol distillery on a Waqf site in the Al-Qusur neighborhood that is purportedly connected to the muezzin and imam who work for the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.

The government went on to say, "In actuality, the government of Endowments and Islamic Affairs disputes any connection to the real estate depicted in the film. Al-Qusur, Block 4, lacks a Waqf home for the muezzin and imam. Furthermore, no rumors of an alcohol distillery located in a mosque in the Al-Qusur neighborhood have surfaced."

By addressing and refuting the rumors that have been going about on social media, this explanation hopes to ensure that the public is given proper information.
