ALBAWABA - Ahmed al-Sharaa, interim president of Syria, has been making headlines following the ousting of the Syrian old regime led by Bashar Assad and assuming power on Dec. 8.
Ahmed al-Sharaa, who was formerly known as Abu Mohammed Al-Julani, recently made his first abroad trip to Saudi Arabia on Feb. 2, where he met Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman and senior Saudi officials in addition to performing Umrah along with his wife Latifa al-Sharaa.
Following Saudi Arabia, al-Sharaa headed to Ankara where he held discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. During Tuesday's meeting, Erdogan Erdogan hailed al-Sharaa for his "strong commitment" to fighting terror.
The Turkish president said: "I would like to express our satisfaction for the strong commitment my brother Ahmed al-Sharaa has shown in the fight against terrorism."
