ALBAWABA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was received by US President Donald Trump in the White House ahead of their scheduled meeting.

In a rare appearance, Zelensky was spotted wearing a "suit-style" jacket for an Oval Office meeting with Donald Trump after the latter complained about his attire last time.

AFP reporters said that Zelensky thanked the president of the US for trying to "stop killings". In return, Trump stressed that he wants to hold a meeting with the Ukrainian and Russian presidents if 'everything works out'.

Last time, Trump welcomed Zelensky and mocked him over his military-style attire, jokingly telling the press, "he's all dressed up today".

"I have already arrived in Washington, and tomorrow I am meeting with President Trump. Tomorrow, we are also speaking with European leaders. I am grateful to @POTUS for the invitation," Zelensky posted Sunday on X.

Last Friday, Trump met Putin in Alaska, and following the six-hour meeting, the US President said he and Vladimir Putin made "great progress" but did not emerge with a deal to end the war in Ukraine.
