UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan received on Saturday the Muslim scholars who are currently visiting the country at the President's invitation to present religious lectures throughout the nights of the fasting month Ramadan to highlight the real picture of Islam.

Sheikh Zayed reviewed with his guests in the presence of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the current Islamic issues and the necessity for consolidating Islamic solidarity.

Sheikh Zayed, according to Emirates’ official news agency (WAM), called on Muslim scholars to direct Muslims to goodness and to warn them against aggression and extremism. "You should direct people to the right path and warn them against violence and extremism because mankind is in need of justice,” Sheikh Zayed said.

He also called on them to work with sincerity to highlight the real picture of Islam as a “religion of tolerance, love and mercy and not extremism and violence.”

He pointed out that the duty of Muslim scholars is to “convey to people the teaching of the Almighty God and to instruct them about the correct Islamic sciences and message which were bestowed on them.”

He urged Muslim scholars to shoulder their responsibilities towards the current picture of Arabs and Muslims and called them to solidify their efforts to defend Islam and set it free from the cage, which was designed neatly from behind of the seen to defame it.

The Muslim scholars expressed their appreciation to Sheikh Zayed for his nationalistic stances and in defending Arab and Islamic causes as well as his continuous keen desire to end the differences within the nation and achieve unity.

They also praised his humanitarian initiatives in support of Muslims worldwide and for extending hands of help for needy people everywhere – Albawaba.com
