Speaker of the Palestinian National Council, Salim Za’noun said Sunday that the United States has threatened Palestinian President Yasser Arafat with adding his name to the list of terrorists, in the wake of violence in the West Bank and Gaza.

Za’noun, who is participating at a Jakarta meeting of the International Inter-Parliamentary Meeting, told the Emirati Ittihad newspaper that the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, and opposition leader Ariel Sharon are planning to wage a war that would result in the transfer of hundreds of thousands of the Palestinians outside their homeland.

The speaker also warned that Israel plans to invade Syria “to impose the 1923 borders,” as de facto
