Yemen’s President Ali Abdullah Saleh received in the capital of Sanaa on Tuesday US State Department anti-terror coordinator Frances Tailor who is currently paying a visit to the Republic.

President Saleh held talks with Tailor regarding various issues, especially the war against terror, the anti-Yemeni harassment in the United States, latest developments on the regional and international levels, especially the vulnerability of the Palestinians to the “ruthless Zionist terror” and the Yemeni rejection to any military strike against Iraq, according to the official Yemen News Agency Tuesday.

“Yemen is committed to fighting terrorism. There must be an effective global confrontation for terror”, Saleh said.

On the issue of Iraq, he said, “We reject any resorting to military force against Iraq, and the Iraqi approval of the return (of) UN inspectors must be handled positively.”

The Yemeni leader further stressed the urgency of implementing “in one-standard” the United Nations resolutions against the nuclear-armed powers of the Middle East, including Israel, “to secure a comprehensive and fair peace and stability in the region.”

The US coordinator, however, appreciated the advanced level of cooperation between the Republic of Yemen and the United States as well as Sanaa’s tangible contribution to the global war against terror, SABA added.

In addition, he said he would handle seriously the matter of anti-Yemeni harassment in the US, in an attempt to end this problem in a manner that would strengthen Yemen-US relations, the agency said. US Ambassador to Yemen Edmund Hull attended the meeting as well. (Albawaba.com)
