Yemen's parliament deputy speaker, Ja'afar Basaleh, left for Pakistan to participate in the assembly of the Association of Asian Parliament Unions (AAPU) that would be held between 22 and 23 August. Basaleh said in a press statement that these meetings are to prepare for the sixth session of the general meeting of the association which will take place in Bangkok at the end of 2005. According to <i>SABA</I>, the AAPU was formed five years ago to promote peace in Asia. In the presidential election for this body, Yemen was elected to be its deputy.
