Yemeni sources denied on Monday the killing of 100 Shiite rebels at Harf Sufyan area in the northern Yemeni province of Amran. According to SABA news agency, the sources added that the security forces have patrolled Harf Sufyan area and neighboring areas and did not find any bodies.
"The local authorities and armed forces are concentrating to secure roads and evacuate them from the al-Houthi rebels as the al-Houthi followers are continuing attacking the troops, people, prosperities and displaced people", the sources said.
On Sunday reports had claimed that more than 100 al-Houthi rebels, including two of their leaders were killed lately during an operation in Harf Sufyan.
Meanwhile, Iran said on Monday it respected the territorial integrity of Yemen and called to establishe peace in that country. "We respect its territorial integrity and we believe that peace and calm be established in this country," Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Hassan Ghashghavi, said according to Reuters.
In recent weeks, Yemen has accused Iran of supporting the Shiite rebels in the north of the country. "The Saada issue is a domestic issue and we hope that peace will return there through a political solution as bloodshed can't be a solution," Ghashghavi said.
