Reuters reports that a suicide car bomber targeted the governor and police chief of Aden, Yemen, but both men survived the explosion.
According to Reuters, Governor Aidarous Al Zubaidi and Security Chief, Shalal al-Shayaa were headed to al-Buriqa district when the car bomber attacked.
It appears the suicide bomber detonated prematurely.
There are reports of civilian casualties and at least one guard is confirmed wounded.
Both the former governor and former police chief were killed by Daesh-linked suicide bombings.
Aden, currently controlled by Loyalist forces, has been the site of multiple militant bombings in recent months. As the country struggles with fighting between pro-Hadi forces and Houthi rebels, Daesh and al-Qaeda have gained footholds in the south.
