Thirteen Palestinians wounded in clashes with Israeli troops were flown to Saudi Arabia for treatment on Sunday from El Arish airport in northeastern Egypt, aviation officials said.
Two Saudi military medical planes landed at the airport earlier in the day where they unloaded 20,000 tetanus shots and 250 donations of blood for the Palestinian victims of five weeks of clashes, a Saudi official told reporters.
The aid, re-routed because of Israel's closure of the Palestinians' Gaza airport, will be taken by land to the adjacent Palestinian territories via the Rafah crossing point, some 40 kilometers (30 miles) to the east, said the official Hamud al-Adibi who was accompanying the shipment.
Saudi Arabia has so far provided 14 ambulances for use by the Palestinians, he said – CAIRO (AFP)
