The Lebanese University, with assistance financing from the World Bank, moved toward electronic administration, The Daily Star reported.

As the state university inaugurated a computerized student-information system, a regional IT consulting firm celebrated its entry into a $200 million regional market for educational enterprise solutions, said the Lebanese paper.

Saad al-Barrak, chairman of International Turnkey Solutions was quoted by the daily as saying "this project gives us a great boost in the endeavor of making strong inroads into the educational management market."

ITS, according to the paper, had installed the LU’s new Banner 2000 administrative software system marketed by US manufacturer SCT, in just under six months -- Albawaba.com
