The winners of the fourth Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG) weekly raffle were announced today at Ibn Battutta Mall, a key sponsor of DSS 2008 and a member of Dubai Shopping Malls Group. With only five more raffles to go, the occasion marked the mid-way stage of the DSMG promotion in DSS 2008. The winners of the raffle were Ihab Amia from Jordan, Imran Nawab from India, Jawad Wehbi from Lebanon, Salam Al Shaksi from Oman and Asma Mumtaz from Pakistan, each of whom won a cash prize of AED 100,000
Terming the promotion as a huge success, Eisa Adam Ibrahim, Chairman, DSMG said that the trends were encouraging. “The malls are busy and we are pleased to see so many shoppers visiting them. We are also witnessing increased audience participation at the in-mall events,” he observed.
In the four raffles held till date twenty winners belonging to twelve different nationalities have been declared. “The mix of winners is a clear reflection of the international audience that the malls in Dubai cater to,” commented Eisa. The profile of the shoppers who have won the raffles is varied and represents not only different nationalities and cultures but also different socio-economic strata of society.
“I have been participating in the raffle draws for the last six years, but I have never won. This is the first time something like this has happened to me, and it comes at a very crucial time,” said Imran Nawab who could not control his joy or tears. A banker by profession, Imran had filled thirty five coupons out of which one turned out to be lucky. “Dubai is a great place to shop and has some of the finest malls in the world. The raffles and in-mall events make summer shopping a great experience.”
Twenty nine year old Ihab Amia from Jordan, on the other hand, had never bothered to fill a coupon and turned out to be first time lucky. “I was parking my car when I was informed that I had won AED 100,000. It was a very pleasant jolt from the blue. I have not made any plans on how to spend the prize money. It is too sudden and quick,” he confessed.

As a key sponsor of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) since inception, DSMG has been running innovative events and activities that have helped attract an increased number of visitors to the shopping malls every year during DSS. The current DSMG promotion comprises nine weekly draws of AED 500,000 with five shoppers standing to win AED 100,000 each, every week. All shoppers making a minimum purchase of AED 200 will automatically receive raffle coupons and be eligible for entering the raffle. Shoppers using MasterCard will double their chances of winning every time they shop.
The raffle draw is telecast every Friday at 7:00 p.m. and repeated on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. on Sama Dubai T.V.
