Before brides get the chance to say ‘I do’ they are usually busy with organizing every aspect of the wedding ranging from choosing the dress and the desserts to booking the venue and selecting the music. While all of this is important to the smooth running of the day, Wella stresses the importance of brides setting aside enough time to think seriously about their hair. A bride, Wella stresses, is a full package that includes more than just a dress – it is also all about the hair.
“We all know that brides spend a great deal of time with dress fittings and selecting materials for the perfect gown, but at Wella we want to let brides know that A-grade, stunning hair takes more than just a quick wash and brush on the big day. The right look and style needs to suit the dress and this takes time and experimentation,” said Simone Nigg, Wella Middle East.
So for gorgeous girls who don’t want to look like “Bridezilla” when they make their appearance on the big day, Wella suggests not experimenting at the ‘last minute’ with a new look. “Don’t ever change your color or try a new haircut close to your wedding,” warns Nigg. “Most women use their hair as a security blanket to frame their face. Hair is something that makes women feel very feminine and I believe that if you are not an adventurous person it is not advisable to venture into big changes before your big day.”
Educating women across the Middle East, Nigg advises that it is best to have your hair cut two weeks before the wedding bells chime, while coloring is best carried out five days before the “big day”.
Finding the right style might sound like a daunting task as there are so many options in wedding magazines however, it all boils down to up or down. And Wella experts say that most of the time the dress dictates what hairstyle to choose. For instance, Nigg explains: “If you are wearing a strapless gown, then the neck area is the main focus, so I always believe it is best to wear the hair up. But to keep the look soft and romantic, some soft pieces of hair can be left falling around the face.”
But there are more than just strapless gowns – so how do brides decide on what hair-do to go for? Wella recommends taking into account the style, era and shape of the gown. “Allow your hair to shape the gown, how you ask? Well, if the dress if very fitted and slinky then the hair should be warn down and very straight and sleek. If you have any queries about this, then a professional stylist will be able to provide advice.”
In fact, Wella recommends not only seeking the help of a professional but also using the best products to ensure that the right look remains in place all day. Given the fact it is such an important day, it is best to see an expert – a professional hairstylist. “A bride needs to stand out so her hair needs to be touched by someone who really knows how to complement the hair with the gown.”

Wella understands the pressures that are on the bridge, come the wedding day, and that is why it stresses the importance of putting in groundwork. “By getting the right products, such as Wella’s High Hair range, the bride can relax and feel confident that she can look stunning all day long – from early morning until late in the night – without having to stress about drooping, flat and lifeless hair,” said Nigg.
To keep the photo-perfect hairstyle in prime condition all day, Wella says it is best to use products on the hair that provide super support, such as ‘Add Some Body’ product before blow-drying or setting the hair, to create the perfect support system for the styles, along with High Hair styling mousse. Additionally, High Hair has three hairsprays in a variety of three strengths to suit every style. But finally, a style is not complete without amazing shine, which is delivered by High Hair’s two great shine products – Pur Glamour & Gloss Serum – which enable the bride’s hair to shine as brightly as her diamonds.
And while it is true that most of the focus is on the bride, we should probably remember the guests, who make it such a special day. With so many weddings in the Middle East conducted outdoors, Wella believes that guests need to have styles that can beat the heat.

“The heat is a major part of this part of the world and this can result in frizzy hair. In most cases, I would recommend that people put their hair up, so it is free from the heat of the neck and back, making it a lot more comfortable.”
