WB to Help Iran Promote Health Insurance

Several representatives from the World Bank (WB), in a meeting with officials of the Health Services Insurance Organization in Tehran on Wednesday announced their readiness to help Iran promote its health insurance, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA) on Wednesday. 

During the meeting, Chairman of the Board of Directors and 

Managing Director of the organization, Mohammad-Reza Vaez-Mahdavi, said health services are divided into two categories with the first consisting of basic health services for all groups of society and the the second including complementary services, which cover a special group."  

He said that for the time being 90 percent of the Iranian population are under cover of different health insurance, 50 percent of whom are covered by the organization.  

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said the organization is to promote its services for rural people. 

He reiterated that in order to implement its programs, the organization needs to have access to other countries' experiences as well as the World Bank's financial aid – Albawaba.com
