ALBAWABA - The Lebanese Sunni Islamic Movement's commander, Musab Halaf, was killed in an airstrike in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, according to a report from the Israeli military.
The strike killed Halaf, a high ranking member of the Islamic Group, in the village of Maydoun, which is close to the Syrian border, according to official sources from the Army Spokesperson's Office.
Tensions in the region have escalated further, according to Israeli authorities, who claim that the Islamic Group collaborates with Hamas to coordinate its actions within Lebanon.
Although the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) acknowledged that Israeli bombings had occurred in the region, no precise information about the number of victims has been released.
The Lebanese Islamic Group's leadership had previously stated that they intended to work with Hezbollah, which is supported by Iran, to thwart Israeli invasions along their border.
The ongoing battle between the Israeli military and Hezbollah troops, which has resulted in substantial casualties on both sides since October 8, 2023, is exacerbated by this occurrence.
