A US soldier was killed and another seriously injured when Iraqi fighters threw a bomb at their vehicle Tuesday, according to a US military spokesman. The wounded soldier was evacuated to a medical facility for treatment.
The spokesman added that the bomb destroyed the Humvee vehicle, which was part of a convoy traveling in the Iraqi capital.
Later in the day, gunmen in northern Iraq opened fire on a convoy carrying senior Kurdish officials, injuring three bodyguards, a spokesman said.
Officials of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan were leaving the city of Mosul in their cars when the gunmen attacked, said Mullah Bakhtiar, a spokesman for the PUK, according to The AP. (Albawaba.com)
